When Will Iowa Caucus?

Wednesday, August 8, 2007  |  posted by Hugh Hewitt

With South Carolina’s expected announcement of the move-up of its primary to Saturday, January 19, will New Hampshire move its primary to Tuesday the 15th, or even Tuesday the 8th? If the latter, will Iowa do the smart thing and back up the caucuses to the week of December 17th?

If Iowa wants to keep its status –and the bulk of candidate attention and spending between now and the campaign’s onset– it won’t settle for a day or two or three of priority over New Hampshire’s vote. Hopefully New Hampshire will settle on the 15th, and Iowa the week before so the Christmas holidays can remain, for most, a time of family and not politics.
