This is a fascinating item on a Senate junket to China, led by Harry Reid and Dick Durbin. Ten senators total, including three Republicans.
What do you suppose this cost? Will Politico or the Post investigate that number?
Far more important than the cost did anyone think that, during a moment ofharsh repression of the Christian community in the PRC that this was a trip richly deserving of cancelation?
I know senators have to travel and that good does come from such trips, but this one is excessive and very ill-timed. It is a vast taxpayer-funded Easter vacation to a regime that is imprisoning people for exercising their faith in Easter.
Nice work, Al Kamen.
