I am also sending a check to Soldiers Angels, which has a special fund set up to assist families hit by the disaster who have military serving in Iraq or Afghanistan, and thus who are in particular need of help as they wait for their soldier, sailor, airman, or Marine to come home.
E-mails on the effort to connect PCUSA congregations within the disaster area with PCUSA congregations across the country willing to commit to long-term partnerships in the recovery effort continue to flow im, and I will update the master list and publish some excerpts as the day moves along. Thanks to all those who are stepping up with gifts to the many great relief organizations and to those working to connect their churches with churches in need. NZ is hard at work on the new portal –it will be amazing and effective, and I am certain it will be easy to rally the entire ecosystem to publicize it when it is up. (Get e-mail updates from NZ here.)
One more thing: Bill Whittle is airborne. Read it.
