Two Conversations with Two Davids

Here’s the transcript of my Monday conversation with David Mamet about his new play, The Anarchist.

(My review of the play is here.)

And here’s the transcript of my chat with Newsweek/Daily Beast reporter David Freedlander.

Within the conversation with Mamet I discovered we share a love for Patrick O’Brian and the novels of Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin. Mamet even wrote an appreiciation of O’Brian for The New York Times, linked here. Twelve hours later, I am planning another conversation with Mamet, this one about O’Brian, but I have four novels to go so it will have to wait.

My book list for National Review’s Christmas book issue is all about Afghanistan, but do give yourself two presents: Tickets to The Anarchist when next yoy are in or near New York or when it comes to a theater near you in the years ahead, and the first of the Aubrey-Maturin tales.
