Dr. Larry Arnn’s Hillsdale Dialogue on Media Hatred of President Trump, and Article I, Section 5 of the Constitution Series of Conversations

HH: It is the last radio hour of the week. That means it’s time for our weekly Hillsdale Dialogue with Dr. Larry Arnn, president of Hillsdale College or one of his colleagues. All things Hillsdale available at www.hillsdale.edu, or you can go and listen to all of our conversations with all of our guests, mostly Dr. Arnn, dating back many years now all collected for your binge listening pleasure at www.hughforhillsdale.com. Dr. Arnn, I must begin, I call you the lantern of the north, and the snuffbox of the west is USC, University of Southern California. And I must begin, you put statues up around your campus. Before they go up, do you carefully spellcheck what is at their base? I just want to know if you are guilty of any of the sins that have been commissioned at USC this week where they misspelled Shakespeare on a statue of Hecuba.

HH: You have no idea, America, morning glory, how much this is going to hurt. I had dinner last night with the parents of worthless Sam, a freshman at Hillsdale College. And I had to endure two hours of praise of Dr. Larry Arnn. I had to put up with more good words about Dr. Larry Arnn than I’ve heard since I met his parents, and I never met his parents. It was terrible, Dr. Arnn.

HH: That music means it’s time for the Hillsdale Dialogue. The last radio hour of each week is devoted to a conversation with Dr. Larry Arnn or one of his colleagues from Hillsdale College. All things Hillsdale are available at www.hillsdale.edu, including the remarkable courses on the Constitution, on progressivism, many wonderful dialogues. All of our conversations from the Hillsdale Dialogues dating back to 2014, I believe, are collected at www.hughforhillsdale.com. And you ought to at least go and sign up for Imprimis, which is absolutely free, the speech digest that Hillsdale College sends out every single month, much loved by those who have been reading it for decades. Dr. Larry Arnn is my guest this morning. Good morning, Dr., good to talk to you.

HH: That music means it is the last radio hour of the week and time for the Hillsdale Dialogue. Each week at this time, I sit down with Dr. Larry Arnn, president of Hillsdale College or one of his colleagues to talk about matters of lasting import. We’ve been doing this for years. All of those conversations are collected at www.hughforhillsdale.com, and everything Hillsdale, including your opportunity to subscribe for free to Imprimis, which you ought to be doing, it’s a magnificent speech digest, and it will arrive in your mailbox for free, is at www.hillsdale.edu. Dr. Paul Rahe on the Hillsdale Dialogue Discussing the Formation of the Constitutional Convention

HH: The last radio hour of a very wild week in the life of the United States is the Hillsdale Dialogue on the Hugh Hewitt Show, an hour that we put aside for a 30,000 feet look at what is going on from the perspective of classical historians, from the perspective of Constitutionalists and originalists, and all of those who work and live in and around Hillsdale College. www.hillsdale.edu for everything Hillsdale. You ought to sign up for the newsletter, Imprimis. You ought to take their online courses. Usually, Dr. Larry Arnn joins me, but occasionally, we get lucky and Dr. Paul Rahe joins us. He is, of course, a professor at Hillsdale. He has been writing so many books, his most recent one on Sparta, The Spartan Regime: Its Character, Origins and Grand Strategy. He’s previously written about soft despotism and democracy’s death, about Machiavelli, about the ancients and the moderns and political theorists. He’s a great guy to have on, on a week where we might think that Montesquieu’s Spirit of the Laws is gone from the country. Paul Rahe, welcome back, always a pleasure to talk to you, Dr. Rahe.

HH: That music means it’s the last radio hour of the week, and that means it’s time for the Hillsdale Dialogue. Each week at this time, I am joined by Dr. Larry Arnn, president of Hillsdale College, or one of his able colleagues. Dr. Matt Spalding has been with us the last three weeks, but Dr. Arnn is back from his extended sail, his voyage around the Baltic, probably with Hillsdale College supporters. All things Hillsdale available at www.hillsdale.edu. All of these conversations dating back to 2013, I believe, available at www.hughforhillsdale.com. Dr. Arnn, welcome home. You are home, I assume. Are you in Michigan or inside the Beltway?
