HH: It is the last radio hour of my week, and that means it is time for the Hillsdale Dialogue today with Dr. Larry Arnn, the president of Hillsdale College all these many years, and usually my guest on the Hillsdale Dialogue, though occasionally other members of the faculty and team at Hillsdale join me. All of these conversations have been collected at one website, www.hughforhillsdale.com. Everything about Hillsdale is available at www.hillsdale.edu. And their online courses are amazing. You can sign up for their newsletter, Imprimis, as your own Easter gift for yourself for absolutely free. More than two million people receive it. And they have a new admittee at Hillsdale this week, the wonderful Jake, who is the social media genius of the Hugh Hewitt Show. Congratulations on the discernment qualities of your admissions office, Dr. Arnn.

HH: Usually, the Hillsdale Dialogue which I do each week with either Dr. Larry Arnn, president of Hillsdale College or one of his colleagues is limited to the last radio hour of the week. But Senator Mitch McConnell, the leader of the United States Senate, asked for the last half hour of the show today. And of course, Dr. Arnn gave way, because he’s a great citizen servant like Ed Feulner, who was just on. But it did mean his having to get up early. I hope they’ve poured coffee down your gullet this morning, Dr. Arnn. It’s a little bit sleepy for you to be at 7:30

HH: It’s the last radio hour of the week. That means it is time for the Hillsdale Dialogue. All things Hillsdale are collected all the way back to 2013 at www.hughforhillsdale.com. All things at Hillsdale are collected at www.hillsdale.edu. And today, Dr. Arnn is sleeping in. He is not with us. But we are in great luck, because Dr. Matthew Spalding, the director of the Kirby Center, the Allen P. Kirby Center, the Allen P. Kirby, Jr., Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship is a project of Hillsdale College. The purpose of the Kirby Center is to teach the Constitution and to bring the debate right into the belly of the beast in Washington, D.C. You should go and find it at www.kirbycenter.hillsdale.edu. Matthew Spalding, welcome, good morning, thanks for being with us in Dr. Arnn’s space.

HH: Dr. Matt Spalding is the president of the Kirby Center, or the director of the Kirby Center, which is the Hillsdale College lantern on Capitol Hill. It is the flame of reason, the tower of illumination that oversees the Capitol that Matt Spalding runs so well. Dr. Larry Arnn is usually here, Matt Spalding, or one of the fine members of the faculty of Hillsdale College fills in for him each week on the Hillsdale Dialogue. HH: That music portends the arrival of the Hillsdale Dialogue. Once a week, the last radio hour of the week, usually Dr. Larry Arnn or one of his colleagues from Hillsdale College at www.hillsdale.edu joins me for a conversation about something that is big, something that is lasting, something that is essential to the West. However, this week, we have made an alteration. We are talking for the next hour with Dr. Larry Arnn, president of Hillsdale College, because at the bottom of the next hour, a friend of his by the name of Ryan, who is Speaker of the House, has preempted Dr. Arnn. So I want to talk to him about that, being elbowed aside by the Speaker. But first, I have to tell you two things. One, Dr. Paul Rahe from Hillsdale was our guest last week. He was much nicer to me than you usually are, Dr. Arnn.
