The former Minnesota governor joins me on the program today. As Mike Allen and Molly Ball seem to conclude today, with Rick Perry firmly closing the door, the field looks set, and the race appears to many to be Mitt Romney v. Tim Pawlenty.
Pawlenty skipped attacks on Romney in yesterday’s roll-out, just as Romney has avoided attacking his competitors to date. Hopefully this truce will last at least through the summer as keeping the focus on the president’s many and serious failings is the best set-up to victory in 2012.
Update: The Washington Examiner reports that Congressman Peter King is floating the Rudy balloon. Rudy’s entrance would shake the race up in unusual ways, and would guarantee that foreign policy and defense-minded voters would get their share of questions answered as Rudy’s strength was and remains as a potential commander-in-chief.
