At least three Republican contenders to defeat three Democratic House incumbents emerged from the Arizona primary last night:
Dr. Paul Gosar will take on Pelosi-supporter Ann Kirkpatrick in Arizona’s 1rst CD. Gosar is a dentist who has been active in the national political efforts of the profession and should draw support from his colleagues across the country as well as from all opponents of Obamacare.
David Schweikert will get a rematch with Pelosi-supporter Harry Mitchell in Arizona’s 5th CD. This is a conservative district, lost in 2006 and caught up in the 2008 landslide, but no one works harder than Schweikert who has been campaigning since last year and should take this seat back.
And Jesse Kellywill take on Pelosi-supporter Gabrielle Gifford in Arizona’s 8th CD. Kelly’s a United States marine combat veteran of Iraq, and Giffords is in for the fight of her career.
Ben Quayle won the GOP nomination in the race to succeed retiring John Shaddegg, and should join the new Congress if the party quickly comes together after a bruising multi-candidate primary.
With a strong GOTV, Arizona should contribute at least three of the necessary 39 seats to retire Nancy Pelosi. You can help with a contribution to one or all of these challengers.
