“”They don’t now have the votes for it and I sure hope they won’t.”

That’s Congressman Paul Ryan after today’s proceedings.

The abandonment of “deem scheme” by its Dream Team of Obama-Pelosi-Slaughter is a huge win whether or not House Democrats break enough arms to get to 216 tomorrow. It will place every yes vote on the side of the Senate bill without any guarantee of ever seeing any change. Accountability will come in November.

And the rank-and-file have to be wondering about the incompetence of their leadership which led them into that box canyon and to the vote –which cannot be reversed– to uphold the assault on the Constitution to begin with.

Ohio’s Zach Space declared himself a “no” today and I’d like to thank all of the people who have pounded him for the last week. Please drop down to the posts below and keep calling. Or use this list from NationalReview.com’s “Critical Care” blog.

It will come down to whether the Democrats who called themselves “pro-life” for years really are that way.

You cannot be pro-life and vote for this bill. And on that point there will be no debate come the fall either.
