My Monday Washington Examiner column looks at the choice Mitt Romney made and the choice facing the country
. The president is betting everything on the American people not knowing the score, not understanding the peril the country is facing, while Governor Romney has reinforced the nature of the crisis we face by asking Paul Ryan to run with him.The Wall Street Journal headline says the Ryan choice “jolts” the race
, but what it does is simply amplify the contrast between the two men at the top of their tickets. The smoking ruins of the Obama presidency are the backdrop to the campaign, and no number of negative ads will change the underlying facts.
The left is hoping that a thousand ads about how Romney-Ryan will cut Medicare and ration health care for seniors will divert seniors’ attention from the fact that Obamacare cut Medicare and has imposed rationing of health care on seniors. Perhaps the country is that dumbed down, but I doubt it.
The 60 Minutes interview Sunday night was a triumph for both GOP candidates. If any Democrats who saw it is still saying they are happy with the Ryan choice, they are lying. MSM can do its best to help the president change the subject from where we are and what he has done, but it won’t work. The reforms we need are coming and they won’t get here a minute too soon.
HT to Legal Insurrection for the great pictures from the Sunday Romney-Ryan rallies
. A picture of enthusiasm is worth a thousand tweets.
I’ll be on Sean Hannity’s Great American Panel on Monday night to discuss the Veep choice and the campaign ahead.
