The pace of sign-ups for Hugh Cruise IV has been pretty astonishing, and the number of e-mails requesting the reading list has been significant. So I checked with Dr. Mark Roberts, who will be lecturing on the archeology of the trip and its New Testament connections recommended Clyde Fant’s A Guide to Biblical Sites in Greece and Turkey and John McRay’s Archeology in the New Testament. He will be posting some online resources at his blog as well if you don’t want to purchase these books.
David Allen White will be lecturing on Homer’s The Odyssey, using the translation by Robert Fagles. He will also teach Shakespear’s three Roman plays: Julius Caesar, Antony and Cleopatra, and Coriolanus. For the visit to Sicily, he recommends Giuseppe di Lampedusa’s“The Leopard.”
