The PBS Censors

It is outrageous that the PBS brass and WETA are suppressing a taxpayer-funded and PBS-commissioned film on moderate Muslims who oppose the jihadists, Islam vs. Islamists.

This is the real deal: state suppression of ideas with which the authorities disagree on ideological/political grounds.  Where’s the ACLU?  Where’s the left?  Where’s the Bush Adminstration?

I don’t know if the film is any good, but I strongly suspect that the government censors are forcing it down the memory hole because it is powerful and persuasive, not the opposite.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s president is Pat Harrison. She can clear the film for showing outside of PBS.  Call her at 202-879-9600 and urge her to do so.

And don’t forget that PBS is in the censorship business when the next pledge drive comes around.  I spent a decade in the PBS system and know how far left it is in practice, but it has never before been so explicitly and obviously in support of suppression of disfavored views.
