The Media and the Mad

Monday, January 10, 2011  |  posted by Hugh Hewitt

My Washington Examiner column treats the issues all media but especially broadcast media must deal with when it comes to the millions of unbalanced Americans.

I am off this week, and Guy Benson will be filling in for me. So many incredibly dumb things have been said in the aftermath of the horror in Tucson that Guy will have a full plate, but he will also have to contend with the professional left’s attempt to turn Sarah Palin, Fox News, talk radio and the Tea Party into the accessories of a lunatic. The attempt is itself already producing a disgust with the usual suspects that will not be forgotten as decent people are repulsed by the attempt to politicize the tragedy. Glenn Reynolds and Scott Johnson have already replied to the repugnant attempts by the lowest level of American punditry, and as word spreads of the killer’s psychosis the left will retreat from their crazy attempts to turn the murders of innocents into a political event.

But the public should remember that, again, there is no decency, no restraint, and no responsibility among a large swatch of the commentariat of the left.
