The Kavanaugh Commitment

I interviewed Majority Leader Frist after the president’s speech last night, and he came out strongly for the Sessions amendment and for tough border enforcement generally.

I also got in a closing question on the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals:

HH: And Majority Leader Frist, do we get a vote on Kavanaugh before Memorial Day?

BF: I’m…yes.

HH: I love to hear that.

BF: And I say that…I’m absolutely committed, and I’m going to do everything within my power…I know everybody’s calling in saying Frist can’t do it, the Democrats are going to hold him up and then not going to get it done. All I can tell you is I’m going to do everything humanly possible to see that Kavanaugh, by Memorial Day, is sitting as a judge.

Now if the White House would unveil the other circuit court nominees –especially the D.C. Circuit’s next nominee(s)– the judges issue would be back front-and-center, and stay there throughout the summer.
