The Iraq Debate and Governor Pawlenty

Wednesday, March 14, 2007  |  posted by Hugh Hewitt

Minnesota’s great governor Tim Pawlenty is just returned from a trip to Iraq, and he will join me on the program today.  From one report on his trip:

Pawlenty tempered his earlier skepticism about President Bush’s plan to send another 21,500 troops into the war zone, saying he was confident that the commander of U.S. troops in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus, would change strategies if the surge doesn’t work.

“One soldier told me last night, `We’re proud of what we’re doing. Please ask the American people to give us a little more time to make it work,”‘ Pawlenty told reporters on the call.

Governor Pawlenty is also a backer of Senator McCain so we’ll cover developments in the presidential race as well as renewing my effort to get a bunk at the mansion during the GOP 2008 convention.
