All of Wednesday’s show will be a long talk with the New York Times’ Mark Leibovich about his new blockbuster, “This Town: Two Parties and a Funeral –plus plenty of valet parking– in America’s Gilded Capital.”
It would be very hard to write a novel of manners of Washington, D.C. using much of this material and have it not dismissed as absurd, but as Leibovich makes very, very clear, many of your worst fears about the nation’s Capital are indeed true –at least the squalid ones having to do with corruption and the worried ones that perhaps most of those folks just aren’t that smart.
Not much sinister in the book ,except that the merger of the Democrats and the MSM is pretty much complete, at least on the social circuit.
Because of schedules, I taped my interview with Leibovich today so I can safely say it is very, very interesting. I can also promise that many dozens of people who weren’t name-checked in Leiobovich’s book will be in the interview. The transcript will be posted here after the interview runs.
Oh, for you Beltway-obsessed, the show airs locally on AM 1260 from 6 to 9 PM.
