The Fast and Furious Meltdown

Tuesday, August 30, 2011  |  posted by Hugh Hewitt

Heads started to roll as a result of President Obama’s first major scandal –“Fast and Furious.”

Perhaps the Manhattan-Beltway media elite will get interested in the story now.

One obvious line of inquiry concerns what Attorney General Eric Holder and the Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano knew and when they knew it. The U.S. Attorney for Arizona Dennis Burke resigned today, and while he obviously answered to Holder, his official bio spells out the closeness of the Napolitano-Burke connection:

Burke served as a Senior Advisor to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. He served as Chief of Staff to Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano from 2003 to 2008.

It is of course possible that Burke authorized the most reckless undercover operation in U.S. law enforcement history without getting the approval of Holder or kicking the cross-border operation around with Napolitano, but when in the past has MSM ever accepted the version of events most favorable to the president and his senior leadership team?
