The Cleveland Advantage: Barone Speaks

Wednesday, October 25, 2006  |  posted by Hugh Hewitt

Put down your Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg polls and your generic ballots.  Set aside your spin.  Michael Barone has put out his current assessment, and as America’s leading analyst of politics, it is the one you take to the bank (and Tradesports, if you are so inclined, and where the smart money is going to like the odds being offered on the  GOP keeping the House after it reads Barone’s assessment.)

Key (and provocative) excerpt:

My predictions would produce an almost evenly divided House: 219 Democrats, a net gain of 16, and 216 Republicans. Such a result would raise the question of whether Mississippi Democrat Gene Taylor, who declined to vote for Nancy Pelosi for speaker in this Congress, would do so again, and whether another Democrat might do so
