The Beginnings of a Tax Revolt?

There may be enough spine among GOP members in the California State Senate to derail the massive tax hikes proposed by Arnold and the Democrats. If State senator David Cox refuses to be bought, that may kill the “deal,” and there is also still hope that Orange County State Senator Lou Correa, a centrist Democrat, won’t break his word and vote for tax hikes. Lou’s a friend and I’d hate to see him sacrifice what could be a long career in government because his colleagues won’t make the tough spending cuts the state so desperately needs. They are willing to sacrifice Lou’s future for special interests, but Lou shouldn’t go along with their plan.

It has become clear over the past 96 hours that any GOP legislator voting for the tax hikes is finished forever in state politics. That may be enough to stop the economic suicide that is a massive tax hike in the middle of a recession, but watch that space.
