The New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza was my guest in the first hour today, and I replayed the interview in hour three not only because Lizza is a gifted political reporter but also because we talk about the biggest problem in the coming campaign: The Manhattan-Beltway media elite’s protection of the president such as was seen on 60 Minutes Sunday night.
I specifically cover the question of the loss of the stealth drone to Iran and MSM’s general failure to report on the enormous strategic blow that this represents. (CNN’s John King rightly noted that CNN has devoted some time to this issue.) I point out to Lizza that the BBC and the Times of London covered-up the serial failures of Chamberlain as Prime Minister during his appeasement years, but Lizza rejects the comparison.
In the conversation with King, the president’s response to the charge of appeasement –that bin Laden wouldn’t agree– came up and King agreed that this was a non-sequitur as appeasement is a state-to-state doctrine, not a question of the willingness to use the military against terrorists. King’s agreement is significant…because no one in MSM has called the president on that absurd response.
The GOP’s candidate will face a headwind from the MSM every day of every week of the campaign ahead, but they should use the debates among themselves to at least underscore the president’s failures abroad, and especially the diestrous loss of the drone to our most fanatical enemy.
