So, Friday was an interesting day. Trump spoke at a Faith and Freedom conference and Hillary spoke to a pro-abortion group, including a re-issuance of her promise to do away with the Hyde amendment. Trump stuck to script, and the words were reassuring, but he has said so many things in so many directions, so many times that trust will take a while to build. That Hillary wants the government to pay for baby killing is not news, but it just rips a little more of my heart out every time I am reminded. It may have been an interesting day, but it was not one that made the heart of the average Christian sing with joy. And yet, somehow, we are supposed to.
So I turn to scripture. Here are a few passages I found helpful and I hope you do as well:
Isaiah 41:10: “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Jeremiah 32:27: “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?”
John 16:33: “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
Nehemiah 8:10: Then he said to them, “Go, eat of the fat, drink of the sweet, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
Zephaniah 3:17: “The LORD your God is in your midst, A victorious warrior He will exult over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy.
