Shadegg Comes Out Swinging
On this morning’s blogger conference call, Congressman Shadegg argued that Roy Blunt should not be majority leader because Blunt as Whip had exercised power to benefit friends, citing Blunt’s action, “in the dead of night” (though Shadegg volunteered that this characterization was a little unfair) on behalf of Philip Morris. Congressman Shadegg then discussed the details of Blunt’s intervention on behalf of PM when the Homeland Security bill was being passed, when Blunt was in a relationship with a PM lobbyist (and apparently while Blunt’s son was a PM employee.)
This is hardball, the sort played by a man who intends to win.
Hopefully one of the bloggers will ask Congressman Blunt about this on the conference call later today, which I cannot be on because of the radio show.
