Before there was a Liddy, in fact, before there was a CREEP, Nixon had Chuck Colson as his political enforcer, and Colson had The Plumbers. Now we have to ask who is working for Chuck Schumer’s brass knucles gang at the DSCC.
Katie Barge is one of the names that has surfaced in the criminal investigation into the stealing of MD. Lt. Gov. Steele’s credit history via social security number fraud. Barge is the suspended research director of Schumer’s DSCC, and was previously the research director of David Brock’s Media Matters and a reseracher for the Edwards presidential campaign.
She’s going to make a very interesting witness. Perhaps she’s been kept on the DSCC payroll because it would not be a good thing to anger this particular person? Given that it is Schumer’s operation, it has to be assumed that Schumer has okayed her continued employment.
According to the Washington Times, Schumer’s spokesman stated that “Mr. Schumer was not involved in the incident but urged others to ‘report it immediately to the authorities.'” The paper also reported that:
Under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act, knowingly and willfully obtaining a credit report under false pretenses is a felony punishable with a fine and a maximum two years’ imprisonment.
The MSM needs to get Schumer on the record right now about what he knew and when he knew it; why he hired these women; why he didn’t fire them when this became known to him months ago, and whther he knew they were fishing for stuff using Steele’s social security number.
The media might also want to run down the list of Schumer hires. Political organizations have their own unique cultures. If the head of the DSCC’s research department thought nothing of commiting a felony to gain an edge, it is hardly unlikely that there are similar zealots around.
And Senator Norm Coleman has the permanent subcommittee on investigations in The Homeland Security and Governmental Operations Committee. Time for a hearing on opposition research abuses at the DSCC?
