The president has ordered the U.S.S. George Washington from its port in Japan to the Yellow Sea. This is the obvious and necessary response to the North Korean attack on South Korea yesterday.
It is also a reminder to the Congress that when tensions rise, the best tool available to the president is a carrier and its sister ships. It is still an indictment of the outgoing Congress that it spent nearly a trillion dollars in “stimulus” and didn’t commission a single ship with the money.
