Romney’s 50,000 New Donors
There’s a lot of news in Mitt Romney’s Q2 fundraising report, but by far the most significant stat is the 80,000 50,000 new donors that gave to the campaign in the period from April 1 to June 30. The cash-on-hand is healthy, as is the $14 million raisied from other than Romney himself, and Romney’s own loan is not even close to the scale that would undermine the campaign’s credibility, so unless Rudy has an astonishing haul, Romney’s fundraising team seems poised to retain “best operation” title for the second quarter in a row.
In Q3 the focus will be on repeat donoations and enlisting the 80,000 50,000 in the hunt for even more new givers.
Question: How many of McCain Q1 donors, recognizing the collapse of that effort, have given to a different campaign in Q2?
UPDATE: I read the report on the new donors incorrectly, and the correction is noted. I blame jet lag.
