Romney On Offense
In my Washington Examiner column this morning I pointed to the Romney Campaign’s willingness to play offense as one of the reasons conservatives are energized and support for Mitt Romney is building rapidly on the right.
The New York Times noted this as well, and Michael Shear and Ashley Parker expand on the combative attitude of Team Romney above the fold in this morning’s paper.
“[T]he sense of optimism in Boston is palpable,” the Times reporters note, and then run-down the polling results in crucial swing states that fuels the optimism in the Beantown Romney headquarters.
Romney’s fundraising is also prodigious, with big donors streaming to events and small donors making their presence felt online. (You can help via this link.)
Romney’s willingness to swing at what the base perceives as the president’s glass jaw is exactly what the old-school volunteers and Tea Party activists alike had been hoping for. The result is energy up and down the country, an energy that will manifest tomorrow in Wisconsin and throughout the summer months if Romney presses the attack.
