The transcript of an interview I conducted with Robert Kaplan, mostly on the ports deal and the UAE, is here. I’d like to hear what opponents of the deal think of Kaplan’s arguments in favor of it.

Rick Moran has a concise summary of the controversy, and some responses to illegitimate criticisms directed at critics of the deal.

Suggestion for the Administration: Provide a guide to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States. Who are its tewlve members and what are their backgrounds. When did the Committee meet to consider this transaction and which agency had the lead in preparing the transaction for review. Exactly how big is this transaction? Was their a dissenting opinion?

UPDATE: Varifrank runs through a list of potential unintended consequences.

The Washington Times reports that the review of the deal wasn’t even done at the highest sublevels.
