The organizers of this wonderful event presented an amazing spectacle and threw in a re-enactment of Dunkirk as 2,000 small craft surrounded the 11 tall ships as they re-created the battle.
I was aboard the Windy, playing the role of the Lawrence, which was Perry’s flag ship which, when crippled, he left and rowed to the Niagara where taking command he passed through the British line, destroying it and capturing an entire British naval squadron for the first time in Royal Navy history.
I admit when British colors were struck yesterday I was reminded of last week’s stunning vote in Parliament.
I will be devoting most of today’s show to the looming vote in Congress and to the argument why the GOP must support a robust resolution supporting the oresident’s authority to punish any regime that deploys WMD, especially after the president has publicly vowed to do so.
