3/4 cup Crisco
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
2 1/4 cup flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger
Mix Crisco, sugar, egg and molasses.
Blend in dry ingredients and chill.
Roll dough into balls.
Dip tops in sugar and place on greased cookie sheet.
Sprinkle water over balls.
Cook 10-12 min. in 375 degree oven.
Here is the new concoction being whipped up on the recommendation of cousin Diana for 30 Young Life college volunteers’ Christmas Party (along with obligatory ham, bee etcf –does anyone eat more than college students?)
Tremendous Trifle for a Ton of People
1 Duncan Hines dark dutch fudge cake mix
1/2 Cup Kalua
1/4 Cup Hershey’s syrup
1/2 stick butter
8 oz. cream cheese
1 Cup confectioners sugar
3 8 oz. packs instant French vanilla pudding
4 1/2 cups whole milk
16 oz. Cool Whip
6 Heath bars, chopped
Bake cake in 13 X 9 pan. Immediate poke holes in it and pour mixture of Hersheys and Kalua over cake. Cool one hour.
In small bowl mix butter, cream cheese, confectioners sugar.
In Large bowl mix pudding mix with milk, cream cheese mixture and 3/4 of Cool Whip.
Spoon 1/2 cut up cake in large glass bowl, layer half of pudding, sprinkle with half of Heath bars. Repeat.
Cover with remaining Cool Whip and Heath bars. Chill.
