My guests yesterday included Assistant to the President for Homeland Security Francis Townsend, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, and “The Path to 9/11” writer/producer Cyrus Nowrasteh. The audio to the program is here. The Townsend transcript is here, and the Giuliani transcript will appear here soon.
Yesterday’s interview with Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is here. Ms. Townsend and Mayor Giuliani are not as outspoken in the condemnation of the Khatami visit/visa as Romney, but Giuliani’s defense of the invasion of Iraq is as definitive as it is rare and welcome. Other Republicans should study the Romney/Giuliani example and speak bluntly about the war in which we are engaged and the wisdom of clarity about our enemy and boldness in our tactics. They should also studythe president’s speech today and arguments such as those advanced by Ms. Townsend so as to be better prepared to explain –carefully and at length– why the Congress must act quickly to provide the Adminstration with the authority the Supreme Court’s five member majority denied it this past June.
