In the BB (before blogs) era, MSM could take a case and distort its meaning and implications. Not anymore. Powerline’s John Hinderaker analyzes the “strip search” case that some critics of Judge Alito are using to try and slow down his nomination. The conclusion from big firm litigator Hinderaker, who can actually read and understand an opinion:
Judge Alito’s opinion in Groody is well-reasoned and highly persuasive. There is no reason why leftists should be allowed to use it to cast doubt on Alito’s qualifications. On the contrary, it is a good illustration of why we need jurists like Judge Alito on the Supreme Court.
It will be tiresome but necessary work to keep answering every attack launched on Judge Alito by the left, but with 300-plus opinions and a few million less than competent lefty commentators out there, it will simply have to be done.
But judging from the poll (and you can still vote), there are plenty of folks willing to take up the task. Confirmed by Christmas is the goal. Smashing the judicial nominee filibuster once and for all would be an extra benefit.
I’m off to California now. Please send me links to any MSM story that noted the anti-Italian-American talking points from the DNC or Senator DeWine’s announcement that he will vote for the constitutional option if necessary.
And stop by JudgeAlito.com, a pro-confirmation website.
