New Media Meets the Men Who Would Be Majority Leader
Blogger conference calls this morning and afternoon with Congressmen Blunt, Boehner and Shadegg.
Led by National Review’s The Corner, new media has covered this race far more comprehensively and with far more detail than MSM. An e-mailer to K-Lo argues that no one cares about the race. That is of course a stupid comment, but it is true that the race is so inside baseball that many can lose track of the extraordinary importance of the race and not just to the elections of 2006, but on every issue from support for the GWOT against the Pelosi/Murtha retreat and defeat caucus, tax cuts, ANWR, tort reform etc, and especially spending.
MSM can’t follow the race because it lacks sources of info, and generally understands its stakes about as well as it did the theory of the “unitary executive” discussed in last week’s Alito hearings.
But new media does understand, and is far ahead of the dinosaurs as a result.
