More On The Jeffress Controversy and Tomorrow’s Debate

Pete Wehner had an excellent analysis of the Jeffress tempest at CommentaryMagazine.com.

Tomorrow night’s debate seems almost certain to include a series of questions on this subject. Moderator Charlie Rose and panelists Karen Tumulty of the Washington Post and Bloomberg TV’s White House correspondent Juliann Goldman are certain to bring the Manhattan-Beltway media elite perfect pitch to the forum, so their interest in deepening divisions between the candidates while keeping the president off-stage as much as possible is presumed, though perhaps they will surprise. A debate over theology and the religious differences between candidates would be a low point in American politics, but MSM would love nothing more than to see such a spectacle unfold. Use of the word “cult” is almost certain to occur, though from the panelists and perhaps not from the candidates.

Interesting backdrop to a discussion about American’s strong tradition of religious toleration: Sectarian violence in Egypt, again.
