Mitt Romney spoke to the Republican National Committee on Friday night, at a dinner on the deck of the U.S.S.Midway museum in San Diego. The video of his remarks and his introduction by RNC Chair Reince Priebus is here.
My Monday Washington Examiner column is about Romney’s remarks which got wide if shallow notice from all the papers and pundits, the latter barely pausing over what je said to go on to their own views of the wisdom (or not) of his seeking renomination.
Whether he runs again or not, whether you want him to or not, the opening salvo Romney directed at the six years of Clinton-Obama-Kerry-James Taylor foreign policy ought to be standard copy for every speech by every would-be GOP nominee, beginning immediately. As the events of January 2015 have already shown us –and there are more troubles coming– the safety of America will be front and center in the 2016 campaign. Hillary’s tenure at State made the country much less safe, and a Hillary presidency would compound the disaster of the Obama years. Whether your for Christie, Cruz, or Carson, or anyone else, listen to the Romney remarks and urge your candidate to take notes.
