Memo To GOP Candidates: Clarity On The War, Every Day, And On Every Related Subject, Including PBS

The text of Senator McCain’s speech is superbSo was Mitt Romney’s speech last night.  Rudy is also rock solid on the war.

Winning the war requires, however, consistent and forceful engagement of the candidates on many fronts, and one front right now is the PBS suppression of the film Islam vs. Islamists.  The GOP’s Big Three have a huge platform, and they should be using it daily to educate the public about the war, and about the American left that doesn’t want the public to get the full facts about the war.

Last night Governor Romney said the following:

“I think many of us still fail to comprehend the extent of the threat posed by radical Islam, by Jihad. Understandably, we focus on Afghanistan and Iraq. Our men and women are dying there. We think in terms of countries, because we faced countries in last century’s conflicts. But the Jihad is much broader than any one nation or nations. For radical Islam, there is one conflict and one goal – replacing all modern Islamic states with a caliphate, destroying America, and conquering the world.”

Romney’s right, of course (Exhibit 1 could be this exchange with E.J. Dionne), and that general ignorance will not be remedied until and unless the public gets a steady stream of voices speaking clearly about the nature and extent of the threat.  As PBS’s shameful exercise in censorship demonstrates, the American left does not want that to happen.  The GOP’s big three can take steps every day to assure that it does. Beginning with a denunciation of the PBS censors.
