A guest who gave a newlywed couple £100 as a gift has spoken out about their shock after the bride asked them for a bigger contribution.
The attendee, who was a former colleague of one of the wedding party, was contacted by the couple via email and told their contribution “didn’t seem to match the warmth of your good wishes” after the big day.
There are so many things wrong here, from ingratitude to what it says about marriage (Anybody want to bet against the proposition that the newlyweds lived together for an extended period and got married to stock the larder?), that analysis defies blog length. So, I am not going to bother.
My immediate response was to remember this scripture:
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (I Thess 5:16-18)
I think I will spend the day focusing on that rather than the ugliness of the story.
