Congratulations to the Judge, as well as to Chairman Specter and Majority Leader Frist. (Senator Frist has a statement up on the confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh and CIA Director Hayden that notes the significance of these votes for the November elections:
Where did Hillary Clinton, John Kerry and Ted Kennedy stand on these crucial nominations? Not on the side of judicial restraint — all three attempted to block Judge Kavanaugh from ever receiving his up-or-down vote. Not on the side of serious prosecution of the War on Terror — all three voted against CIA Director Hayden to please liberal special interest groups.
Americans have a real choice this November and today’s confirmations perfectly illustrate why that choice is crystal clear.
He’s correct of course, but that clear difference was obscured by the immigration debate. If the Majority Leader and the Chairman can work to organize a schedule of hearings and votes so that every Thursday or Friday of the summer we see another appeals court nominee or two come out of the Committee and gain confimation on the floor, the issue will sharpen and the message will be received.
For now, though, congrats to Judge Kavanaugh for hsi confirmation and thanks for his nearly five-and-a-half years of service in he White House.
