In Defense of the Budget Agreement

As anyone who has read my Washington Examiner column or this morning’s or last night’s posts knows, I am providing only polite applause for the budget deal. My disappointment over what might have been and the incredible strategic errors committed early on by the House GOP and my concerns that (1) the Republican appropriators are as reliable on matters of conservative doctrine as a Renaissance Pope on the Commandments and (2) the Senate’s Gang of Six is a massive tax hike dressed up as fiscal responsibility prevent me from leaping to my feet in praise of the Beltway GOP.

So I have asked Stanford economist John Taylor to join me in hour three to review the reasons why he considers the deal a huge success, indeed a “game changer.” Dr. Taylor’s blog has the details, as well as this graph:
