If you missed Charles Krauthammer on my show yesterday, the audio and transcript is here.
Listen or read it and then think about the proliferation scenario he discusses. This is the single most pressing issue of the day: If Iran is allowed to go nuclear, it will proliferate its nuclear knowledge and devices. It is in the nature of the regime that props up Assad to commit genocide and which arms Hezbollah so that, someday and probably soon, it will hurl thousands of rockets against the civilians of Israel.
Israel, along with its silent partners Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Jordan, may have to strike Iran without American support because the United States under this president is about to collapse in the face of the mullahs. That’s the “terrible decision” Charles discussed yesterday: Turn the table over with the help of the Sunni states or watch as President Obama condemns it to a future of decades if not longer of a state run by fanatics with nukes it can get to Israel’s borders.
Israel probably cannot wait for another president. Iran will be out from under sanctions and near breakout before a new president not named Hillary can find the Situation Room. President Obama is pushing the world to a very big war in the Middle East. It could come at any moment. That’s his legacy –that, or a nuclear Iran slipping its worst weapons to Hezbollah and Hamas.
Marco Rubio talked about the need for the world to have a strong United States in his speech yesterday. Read it consider that this is the candor the United States needs from all of its candidates. Scott Walker is in Israel, shunning American media but soaking up the realities of that country’s position. Rubio and Walker are doing exactly what all of the GOP candidates need to be doing and most are: Keeping the focus on the future challenges President Obama’s disastrous tenure has created, first among them a “near nuclear” Iran.
