Even before this change came to the public’s attention, California’s Senator Kamala Harris was my early prediction to be the likely Democratic Party standard-bearer for 2020. Move California’s primary to March, and “likely” becomes “probable.” Those who would rather have their names on the top of the ticket had better hope the DNC schedules as many debates for 2019 and early 2020 as the RNC allowed to happen in 2012.
And of course they should have conservative pundits mixed into those debate panels. And, of course, any would-be Democratic nominee should be doing all types of media interviews as early and as often as possible. If President Trump’s success in 2016 taught anything, it is that you can’t do too many interviews.
