How To Cover The Kangaroo Congress of 2010

Tuesday, March 16, 2010  |  posted by Hugh Hewitt

Interview serious people about the serious issues now. Count votes later.

Here’s the transcript of the interview I conducted today with Stanford Law Professor Michael McConnell –formerly a judge on the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. Judge McConnell makes the very convincing case that the Pelosi procedure in the House –the “Slaughter solution”– is simply and obviously unconstitutional. We discuss how, when and where such a challenge will arrive. The Democrats who hope that the issue will disappear this summer are using sham rules that will guarantee that the process remains front and center throughout the seven months of campaigning ahead.

Here’s the transcript of the interview I conducted with House GOP Whip Eric Cantor. Cantor’s view of the Pelosi jam down: “[I]t is utterly amazing that we are even discussing such a maneuver.” He’s right, of course, and the Democrats’s chorus of “process doesn’t matter” is complete proof that it does. The Constitution matters to everyone except the Obama-Pelosi Democrats.

The transcripts of my conversations today with Mitt Romney and Senate GOP Whip Jon Kyl will be posted here later.

Democrats who vote for this bill will be defeated in huge numbers. Those who pretend that the “Slaughter solution” is other than an assault on the Constitution’s clear language won’t have a chance. The American people are fully engaged and deeply appalled by these shenanigans. No amount of spin can possibly change their impression of the fundamental error of what the Democrats are doing.

The assault on the Constitution –the base trickery of the rules– will become an even bigger burden than the already self-destrutive Obamacare. “Repeal the Deal” will be the only campaign slogan every Republican needs between now and November.

See the posts below for the numbers to call and the incumbents to pressure.
