Mark Roberts continues his methodical slicing and dicing of Christopher Hitchens’ god Is Not Great.

Last week’s debate between Hitchens and Roberts continues to generate e-mails, and they continue to split almost exactly evenly between those condemning Roberts for being too gentle with Hitchens and those applauding Roberts’ approach to the long exchange.  (Transcript here.  Audio here: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.)

The series of posts by Roberts –both in their depth and tone– underscore why I asked a New Testament scholar who is also a pastor and a blogger to conduct the exchange with Hitchens.

Be sure to read Roberts’ new Can We trust The Gospels? for a full account of why the new wave of attests cannot dent much less overthrow the compelling accounts of the Gospels.
