Reality has a way of winning out.
Every POTUS ally save the AFL-CIO has received its get-out-of-Obamacare-free card, but Harry Reid swears the Senate democrats won’t vote to delay the nightmare for a year to give it a whisper of a chance of working.
The president’s collapse over Syria, desperate courting of the Iranians and plummeting poll numbers has forced him to try a Hail Mary –forcing a government shutdown in order to try and turn public opinion back in his favor.
Nearly all of MSM and some of the center-right media is pushing the president’s narrative.
But in the background is playing, in an endless loop, the president’s solemn promise –his often repeated oath– that if you liked the healthcare plan you had, you could keep it. If you liked the doctor you had, you could keep him or her.
This pledge has been broken already for millions of Americans and tens of millions more will find out soon it is broken for them as well.
So if the President and Harry Reid force their party to go down with the Obamacare ship, a key moment in American domestic politics will occur. The GOP should trust the voters. They know what the president promised and most of them know the disaster the GOP is working hard to prevent.
Bill Kristol has very good advice for the GOP. Stay upbeat. Keep telling the truth. And refuse to cave.
