I got back to california to find word that some great American qulters are sending their goods to the Wounded Arrior Center at Camp Pendelton. From Therese, who is coordianting the effort to give a homemade quilt to each Marine working on their recovery at the center:
Mrs. Kate Q. from Virginia shipped a box with two gorgeous quilts for the WWC. They were the first to arrive at my home in response to your posted information. One is a gorgeous double wedding ring in USMC red; the other is a snowball design in summery colors. They will be delivered next week when I deliver the 26 tins of freshly baked cookies being sent by a quilter who works in a bakery in Arizona. Needles are working all over the country and quilts WILL arrive as they get completed. To date the queries which identified their state have come in from: Colorado, Arizona, Iowa, Virginia, Louisiana, Vermont, New York, Ohio and (of course) California.
Thanks Kate Q, and Therese. You can e-mail Therese at Theresetax@sbcglobal.net if you’d like to help.
If you can’t stitch, the Injured marine Semper Fi Fund can use cash to assist in the effort to help the Marines recovering at Pendleton and across the United States.
