Governor Romney Announces…

Wednesday, December 14, 2005  |  posted by Hugh Hewitt

In a conference call begun a couple of minutes ago, Mitt Romney confirmed he would not seek reelection, declined to speculate on the presidential race in ’08 though “he would do what he had to do to keep the option open,” and noted that he had accomplished almost everything he hoped to get done in his first term, although he would continue to press for health care reform in 2006. Though Romney noted that he loved the job, he was also candid about how much more he could realistically expect to accomplish with the legislature in Massachusetts composed as it is. He branded a possible presidential run as “a galaxy far, far away,” and underscored how the president had much more to get done and needed continuing support from everyone.
