The host will undoubtedly regale the audience with tales of Ohio State’s expected and uninspiring victory over Michigan in football Saturday and he might mention how they are going to play Wisconsin for the Big Ten Football Championship. But somehow I think he might fail to mention Ohio State’s basketball appearance in the PK80 tournament over the weekend. Here’s how that ended:
Ohio State basketball was five minutes away from leaving the PK80 Invitational in Portland, Ore., feeling good.
The Buckeyes rebounded from an opening blowout loss to Gonzaga with a win over Stanford on Friday night, and had a comfortable lead against Butler on Sunday. Coming back from Oregon with two wins would’ve been a successful trip.
Butler didn’t let it happen.
Kelan Martin’s driving layup with 3.8 seconds left completed the Bulldogs rally from 15 points down, and Chris Holtmann’s former team sent Ohio State home with a 67-66 overtime loss.
You read that correctly – BUTLER beat Ohio State.
