Cotton faces the hapless Mark Pryor, the sort of “oldest son” parliamentarian one would find in England before political reform arrived after the war. Pryor’s dad was a decent enough Democrat for when the state was light blue, but now its deep read, and Pryor the younger is deep blue. He has been collecting cash which is why this first quarter of fundraising for Cotton matters as a sign of things to come.
