That’s my suggested hash tag for obvious approach for the U.S. to take now that Iran has announced (1) there is no deal unless sanctions are lifted on day one and (2) there will be no “anytime, anywhere” access to military facilities. Both are deal killers (as should have been the continuation of support for the Iran-backed killer militias of the region and export of existing enriched uranium stockpiles and closing of Fordo.
I’ve spent most of the first three days of this week interviewing people about the deal. Read them all and draw your own conclusions. The president has not engaged in a single detailed, tough interview concerning the hologram that he calls a deal, nor has Secretary Kerry. Even so he has admitted that the deal ends up allowing nukes to Iran within a dozen years.
The deal has to be killed by Congress and Iran’s leaders have made that much easier. The president such recognize that and simply refuse to return to the table and announce negotiations have ended based on these twin statements that reveal for everyone to see the Iranians have been “negotiating” in bad faith from day one.
In reverse order, the key interviews I’ve conducted, for which both audio and transcript are available:
The “deal” cannot be salvaged. #DontGoBack
