The Washington Post launched a new blog this morning, “Think Tanked,” by Allen McDuffee, which has existed as an independent blog for some time. I was intrigued because I try and keep an eye on the big tanks for good guests for the program, and so went to check out the new offering. Here’s the bio note on McDuffee:
About Allen McDuffee
Allen McDuffee is a New York-based politics writer. Part reporter, part investigative journalist, part blogger, Allen has written for The Nation, Huffington Post, AlterNet, Raw Story, New York Observer, In These Times and Truthdig, among others.
OK, the Post leans way left in its choice of bloggers, with only Jennifer Rubin on the center-right of the spectrum. But does the Post really expect center-right readers to trust Mr. McDuffee to fully and fairly report the goings-on in the think tank world with a resume that screams “lefty” at you?
Still waiting for a old school conservative, pro-GOPer to show up with a by-line in the Post bloggers’ line-up. Apparently the Post, Politico, and the Hill all believe they cannot compete with Townhall.com and the Washington Examiner, so they have abandoned the field –and any claim to fairness and balance.
As for the think tanks…just keep an eye on the blog at the American Enterprise Institute.
