Did George Will really write this?
From Will’s new column, available at RealClearPolitics:
Not all Utahns are Mormons. Almost 11 percent are Hispanics, heading for 20 percent by 2020, and there is a significant population of Pacific islanders. But the state’s singular tone is set by the Mormons.
Will’s paragraph implies that there is little or no-cross-over between Latinos and LDS, which makes this worship service a little odd.
Since covering the LDS Church for PBS in 1996 and becoming friends with the late Elder Neal Maxwell, I have had an eye out for the incredible laxity that attends reporting by non-Mormons of Mormon stories.
This is one such obvious whopper. As Mitt Romnet gears up for his presidential run, there will be others. Perhaps the LDS Church will want to prepare a web-site just for reporters on the church’s membership and ethnic and geographical diversity. They can send a link to columnist Will.
